Chronic inflammatory diseases (CID) mainly affect young people with a significant impact on quality of life, family and socio-professional life. They also have a significant impact on healthcare budgets due to the increasing costs of their care. CID is characterized by a significant variability in clinical presentation, biological profiles and evolution; this clinical heterogeneity complicates the management of patients and could explain the failure of therapeutic trials. It appears necessary to better define the clinical phenotypes in order to better understand the physiopathological mechanisms and to better target the evaluation of new therapies. This is in line with the concept of “endotype” which can be considered as a subtype of disease defined functionally and pathologically by a molecular mechanism or a particular response to a treatment.
ENDOMIC (ENDOtyper les Maladies Inflammatoires Chroniques) specializes in precision medicine approaches using health data and artificial intelligence, which is part of the dynamics of our academic site (France 2030 Excellence Initiative including the University of Lille, the Lille University Hospital, INSERM and INRIA). ENDOMIC is hosted at INFINITE (Institute for Translational Research in Inflammation) Unit (Inserm U1286, University of Lille, CHU Lille).
